ILLEGAL (BEER) SUBSTITUTION
The Rules Committee has met in advance of this weekend's Big Event. We have decided on the following two-tiered penalty system for any participants who bring a beer which does not fit in the category:
1) For close misses, the person bringing the beer will be penalized one point in the taste category from each person voting for that person's beer. For example, a person who brings an Oktoberfest from outside the United States will lose one point from every voter in the taste category.
2) For bad misses, the person bringing the beer will be penalized two points in the taste category from each voter and will be given all zeros in the cap category. For example, a pumpkin beer, or an IPA would be considered a bad miss.
The penalty will not be considered in determining the "Ultimate Loser."
For a refresher on the rules and scoring, see last year's post on that topic.

THE PICK IS IN
With his selection in the 2011 Beer Swap, John S. Walker selects.......
OKTOBERFEST BEER - MADE IN THE UNITED STATES.
Note: Time to buy this beer may be running out - given that it is seasonal in nature. Get out there and buy your beer and let me know ASAP. Preferably, I request you buy a beer with a high alcohol content. The way the Eagles are playing, we all need it!

A TRADITION LIKE NO OTHER
The crowds of people are anxiously waiting outside the gathering place where the College of Beer Drinkers are voting to select the date for Beer Swap 2011. The final ballots have been burned and white smoke is pluming through the hallowed chimney.
HABEMUS DATUM EL SWAPO!
(We have a date for the Swap).
At 3:42 p.m. this afternoon, the two time reigning champion emailed the following message:
"A tradition like no other 'The Beer Swap'... i vote giants game."
And with that, a majority of the members have voted to sustain the grand tradition of the Beer Swap. This year the Beer Swap will take place on November 20, 2011 during Sunday Night Football.
